Here's a tour with the fun of an optional self drive!

Adrenalise in comfort! 4x4 Outback Adventure. A thrilling 4x4 adventure. Various trails to choose from. For example there is an option with a Glow-worm Cave, or the drive-thru tunnels option, do some gold & gemstone hunting & a short guided rainforest walk with a swing bridge. We'll discuss with you what your interests and focus for your trip is and take the trail that best suits you.

Drive yourself to the limit, (or we will drive for you), on one of the West Coast's stage coach trails, over Mountain Passes, rainforests, across rivers and thru tunnels cut by 1860's goldminers.

If you would like to drive yourself we supply you with a 4x4 vehicle, in which there can be up to 4 people, plus an instructor that goes with you. Your instructor has communications with our base in case you need any backup.

Choose one of 4 trails depending on how much excitement you want!! Your welcome to share the fun of driving or to put two ½ days together for a full day adventure. (10% discount for the second ½ day)

Check-in 8:30am, 1:30pm. Allow 4 hrs for ½ day trips & 8 hours for full day tours. We also do trips around the South Island up to 8 days and can rent you a 4x4 vehicle.

There's a trail where you'll meet one of the Wild West's local gold prospectors who will take you into the outback to visit some of his claims. He "claims" to have gold in your pan within one hour! You will head off up the Grey River Valley to the Nelson Creek Goldfields and then onto the goldminers back country trails. Enjoy a short rainforest walk and negotiate the early Chinese gold-diggers maze. Learn about the Native Beech Forest ecosystem found in abundance here. View incredible GLOWWORMS in the cave left at the Deviation. On the way, make your fortune at the 1860's WILD WEST GOLD MINE! This historic, underground mine was opened in 1866 and is worked from time to time by a local prospector who keeps the mine operating. Experience the Wild West's living heritage as you pan for the elusive gold flakes & red garnets. See how the old timers did it - you can operate a gold sluice boxes and the tea billy!

Cancellations: Please note that once you are booked, if you do not turn up, if you cancel outside of 72 hours or if some-one in your group does not go then the credit card you use to make your booking is charged in full. So you need to be sure everyone does want to go. You can cancel outside of 72 hours and there is no charge. We do advise you to take out travel insurance.
